[ARCHIVED] Monday November 11th - Veterans Day Parade

Wilson County to Celebrate Veteran’s Day

11,11,11 is Veterans Day, November 11 at 11:00 am. The date and time the Armistice was signed for World War I, is the time that communities celebrate the men and women that served their country in times of war and peace.

Wilson Counties Veterans Day program will be held at the Veterans Plaza at 304 West Main Street in Lebanon. The Veteran’s Day program is sponsored by the American Legion Post 54 with support from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5015 and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1004. American Legion Post 54 Commander, Pete Norman stated this is a community project to honor those who served in every branch of service, whether as full time military or in a military reserve unit, we all served.

The program will be preceded by a parade that will begin at 10:00 am at the Lebanon/Wilson County Library and end at the Veteran’s Plaza. The parade Marshalls will be Lt. Colonel Jim Henderson and his wife Beverly. The parade will feature local school bands and marching units. A fly-over will occur during the parade consisting of World War II fighter aircraft.

The speaker for the program will be Mr. Scott Benson, Director of the Lebanon Special School District and a Desert Storm veteran having served in the United States Marine Corp Reserves. We are honored to have Mr. Benson as our speaker, his service to his county both as a veteran and an educator has been outstanding, stated Jim Harding, Chair of the Veterans Day Committee.
