Each year a day in November is noted as GIS Day. This is an international event, which is intended to recognize GIS and its use in the display and analysis of geo- graphical information. On November 14, 2007, Lebanon's GIS Department conducted the city's first GIS Day event. The open house included a gallery displaying maps created and maintained by the department as well as posters illustrating uses of GIS. Laptops were set up for demonstrations, refreshments were provided and door prizes were awarded.
