Our Mission
The mission of the Lebanon Police Department is to continually enhance the
safety and security of the residents and visitors of the City of Lebanon,
always seeking excellence in the performance of our duties while maintaining
the highest standards of ethics and integrity. The Lebanon Police Department
will accomplish this mission by hiring the most capable and professional employees
available, by providing all officers with excellent training and continuing education
opportunities, providing excellent leadership and mentoring to all employees through supervision, providing officers with the latest equipment and technology, adhering to a standardized nationally accredited set of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
and by holding each officer to high ethical standards.
National Accreditation The Lebanon Police Department was re-accredited in March of 2006 by the Commission for Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). Attaining this prestigious process has been a three year process, and it distinguishes the department as one of the top law enforcement agencies in the nation.

Citizens Police Academy In an effort to educate and inform the community, the City of Lebanon,
in partner with the Lebanon Police Department, provides its residents
and business owners a voluntary police academy. The five-week program
entails lectures, presentations, as well as hands-on activities to
teach and inform its participants the many facets of law enforcement
and introduce the police department that serves them. This stimulating
and informative program will give each enrollee a better sense of the
Lebanon Police Department and the issues concerning everyday
operations. Citizens will also have a better understanding of their
role in the Community Oriented Policing philosophy.
The purpose of the Citizen's Police Academy is to foster better
communications between citizens and police through education. A
well-informed citizen is more likely to share their experiences with
the community as the opportunity arises. Everyone benefits from
enhancing citizen understanding of the role and function of their
police department.
We encourage you to apply for the next Citizen's Police Academy, which is October 18th through November 15, 2007. Classes will meet every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in the courtroom of the Lebanon Police Department.
