Lebanon Police Department Grants
The Lebanon Police Department actively seeks funding from the Federal Government to supplement local funds provided by the taxpayers. These grants provide additional officers and equipment that assists local law enforcement efforts. The following grants have been awarded to the City of Lebanon & the Police Department.

Universal Hiring Program
From 1995 to 1998 the Lebanon Police Department received $767,530.00 from the DOJ to hire, train, and equip eleven additional officers for the city. All officers are still employed by the City of Lebanon and continue to serve the community.

Stop Violence Against Women Grant
In 2002 the department received a four year grant to hire, train and equip an investigator to focus specifically on domestic violence and violence against women. The amount awarded by the DOJ- Office of Violence Against Women totaled $142, 523.00.

Computer Upgrade Grant
In 2002 the department received $125,186.00 to upgrade existing computer infrastructure and security.

Local Law Enforcement Block Grant/Edward Byrne Grant
Provided $40,000.00 to fund overtime for local law enforcement efforts after 9/11 in 2002. In 2003 the LLEBG provided $50,000.00 to purchase and equip a Mobile Command Post for the Lebanon Police Department. In 2004 the department recently received $22,000 to purchase mobile data terminals for patrol cars.

The Eward Byrne Grant is a total of $19,367.00. All available funding will be utilized for overtime pay for officers to work our high crime areas.


100 Days of Summer Heat & Beyond
In 2006 the department was awarded a traffic grant through the Tennessee Governor’s Highway Safety Office. The grant provided $87,445.30 for equipment and personnel costs. The personnel costs will include funding for overtime to conduct traffic enforcement measures, DUI checkpoints and other traffic related functions. Equipment provided through the grant includes several radar units for squad cars, a speed detection trailer and a mobile message board trailer.

High Visibility Law Enforcement
In 2006 the department was awarded a traffic grant through the Tennessee Governor’s Highway Safety Office. The grant provided $5,000.00 of overtime funding for traffic violation and alcohol counter-measures efforts.

In 2007 the department was awarded a Sustained Traffice Enforcement Initiative grant through the Tennessee Govenor's Highway Safety Office. The grant provided $23,580.00 for equipment and personnel costs. The personnel costs will include funding for overtime to conduct traffic enforcement measures.
