The Special Response Team consists of the Lebanon Police Department SWAT Team and Hostage Negotiators. Officers associated with these groups respond to situations, which by their nature are more hazardous and volatile than the majority of calls requiring police action. SRT members are constantly training and attending specialized schools to enhance their skills. During 2006 the SWAT team participated in over 1,000 hours of specialized training, including high risk warrant service, school shootings, hostage barricade situations, and active school shooter. The Lebanon Police Department must be prepared to effectively respond to a situation or incident, which would require the use of a Special Response Team. Each situation is different, but a basic plan will provide Shift Supervisors and Officers with guidelines, which will show direction, to bring the incident/situation to a successful conclusion. The Special Response Team is a group of specifically trained personnel, proficient in the use of special weapons and tactics, geared to combat small- scale actions or contend with unusual situations. |
