Cedar Grove Cemetery was established in 1846.

 The prior location for the cemetery was on South College Street. It is the final resting place for people from Lebanon’s history. Civil War General Robert Hatton is laid to rest here. There is an area dedicated to the Civil War veterans. Governor William Bowen Campbell is buried here. Noted Nashville area charismatic attorney John Jay Hooker, Jr. is also buried her. Cedar Grove has a rich history of generations of families that called Lebanon home. The poet and humorist, Dixon Merritt, is buried here. Merritt penned the limerick “The Pelican”.


 In keeping with changing times, Cedar Grove Cemetery has installed two columbaria for the placement of cremated remains
